Of course, you can visit both islands in one trip. Ideally you\u2019d take a month to do all of this. Just beware that your trip will feel rushed if you only have limited time!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The North Island is smaller than the South Island, but much more populated. It therefore has many more amenities and feels less remote. Among the many features that draw tourism to New Zealand’s Nortth Island are its spectacular volcanic features, picturesque beaches, and preserved Maori heritage (most notably, the Polynesian Spa<\/a> in Rotorua). With so many things to see and do, how do you decide where to go?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will most likely start your trip with a rental vehicle <\/a>either in Auckland or Wellington. Auckland has the biggest international airport in New Zealand, so flights<\/a> will probably be cheaper and faster to get to than anywhere else in the country. Wellington is the port of arrival for the Cook Strait ferry from the South Island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
